The Giving Tree was founded 15 years ago as a nursery to provide a safe and child-centered environment for children to develop through play.
Parents and children were charmed by what The Giving Tree had to offer and the community requested for further campuses and offers. After seeing the overwhelming demand, The Founders decided to redevelop the mission and reinvest in the school to cater to the community.
Now, the school is located in the center of Phnom Penh serving Early Years (12 months years to 6 years) and Primary School (6 years to 12 years).
The future of the school is with the children and community at the forefront of its design. Parents, partners and the community are encouraged to reach out and collaborate on The Giving Tree’s mindful development for future campuses and offers.

The Giving Tree International School (TGTIS) was started in 2008 by Anna Matcheret and Anya Weil, two mothers living in Cambodia, who with their families were looking for an affordable play-based alternative to the existing schools at the time that focused on creating an international community of caring parents and teachers who wanted to provide their children with a world-class education in an environment that was child-centered and values-based.
TGTIS has grown with Cambodia over the years but this founding vision is as true as ever - to provide the Phnom Penh community with an affordable joyful, collaborative and inquiry-based learning experience in a multi-cultural, sustainable and nurturing environment that students, parents, and teachers will cherish all their lives.
